The NA2XSY has a single core aluminium stranded class 2 conductor with cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation, copper wire metallic screen, and a red polyvinyl chloride (PVC) oversheath.
Our range of NA2XSY cables are made in accordance with European standard HD620 which determines the material compounds and the material dimensions.
NA2XSY cable specification
NA2XSY cable is widely used in internal/external distribution networks: external where it's either direct buried or installed into cable ducting (it's generally not manufactured with suitable UV-resistant to be laid externally in open air unless requested at point of order), but also it can be run and terminated inside a building as the NA2XSY cable is flame retardant to VDE 0482-332-1-2 and IEC 60332-1.
Manufactured in accordance with VDE 0276 Part 620, the NA2XSY provides long-term operational reliability due to a low dielectric loss factor and the strong XLPE insulation. Nevertheless, it should be used in fixed installations to avoid mechanical or tensile strain.
This cable is relatively easy to install, even in tight guideways. It is also suitable to install in temperatures as low as -5oC.
Where the installation is wholly external it may be preferably to consider the MDPE sheathed NA2XS2Y (with additional waterblocking also available); and where run internally, the NA2XSH LSZH sheathing may be a suitable option.

NA2XSY cable construction and datasheets
With the exception of its aluminium conductor, this cable shares the same properties as N2XSY which has a copper conductor. It is also manufactured in accordance with VDE 0276-620, HD 620 and DIN EN 60228.
Whilst a lower metal current carrying capacity causes this aluminium cable to require a larger cross-section than its copper equivalent in order to carry the same current, prevailing metal prices can make the aluminium version more cost effective on certain projects where space is not a constraint.
