Railway & Metro Cable - Overhead Line

Eland Cables is the leading supplier of Network Rail-approved copper and aluminium overhead line conductors. These are currently used in all power supply and electrification upgrades to power trains up and down the country and around metro networks. Our railway overhead line conductors offering forms part of our wider Overhead Line Conductors family, which we supply to utilities for power transmission and distribution networks worldwide.

Our portfolio of overhead line conductors, which are often referred to as OHL, covers the entire range currently in use by Network Rail Crossrail, London Underground and the other regional and metropolitan networks.

Network Rail overhead line equipment (OHLE or OLE) and Systems
In the United Kingdom, railway electrification has been underway since the late nineteenth century. Over time, and over various parts of the country, a range of voltages have been used. Typically, Network Rail's overhead line systems operate on 25kV. In a drive to improve service onboard rolling stock and to reduce carbon emissions, previously unelectrified lines are currently undergoing major electrification projects. This includes the Great Western Main Line, where Eland Cables is playing an important role in the design and supply of the overhead line conductors.
Overhead line conductor technical authority
Eland Cables is the technical authority in the supply of overhead lines to Network rail and Crossrail. We work closely with their engineers and their contractors to develop sustainable and cost-effective solutions to improve the reliability and safety of the country's railway network. This includes designing OHL with new specifications for existing and new applications.
We also supply a comprehensive range of Network Rail approved OLE and accessories to accompany our overhead line conductors.
