IEC62026-3 Cable
IEC 62026-3 is the International Electrotechnical Commission’s standard covering low voltage (LV) switchgear and controlgear and control-device interfaces (CDIs), with Part 3 specifically referencing DeviceNet and Fieldbus cables.
This standard was recently updated, with the amendments coming into force in March 2015. These BUS cables are designed to connect controller-device interfaces within the CAN (controller area network), with the DeviceNet Thick cables falling under the boundaries of this standard incorporating both a power and a data pair for backbone wiring.
The cables compliant with IEC 62026-3 can also be cross-referenced with cables manufactured to IEC 61158, all falling under the banner of industrial Ethernet cables.
The CAN solutions were originally developed for deployment in the automotive market. It allows multiple master controllers to instruct multiple slave nodes without the oversight of a central master point. Information is transmitted across the network to allow for data consistency across all the individual nodes.
IEC 62026-3 cables are heavily shielded to protect against cross-talk and electrical or electromagnetic interference. They are shielded with Aluminium Polyester Tape (Al/PET) and either tinned copper wire braid (TCWB) or a galvanized steel wire braid (GSWB), making them robust as well as resistant to the electrical fields of other cables and applications nearby.
Eland Cables is a leading supplier of BUS cables, including DeviceNet and Fieldbus, manufactured according to International Electrotechnical Commission Standard IEC 62026-3, which covers the interface between automation and process control systems, switchgear systems, controlgear and controllers.
