DNV Approved Cable
Following a merger between Norwegian company Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and Germany’s Germanischer Lloyd (GL) in 2013, DNV GL became a leading international classification and certification body for the marine industry, oil & gas industry, and energy industries.
DNV was established in 1864 and GL in 1867. The two organisations have a long history in regulating the materials used initially in the maritime industry and latterly across a broader industry scope. Similar to the UK’s Lloyd’s Register, DNV and GL were created to evaluate the quality of marine vessels, improving safety on the seas by looking at construction, design and engineering. These DNV-GL evaluations and the seal of approval given to compliant products, has expanded to include activities including oil & gas pipelines, renewable energy installations, both offshore and on land.
