BS7211 Cable
Thermosetting insulated and thermoplastic oversheathed cables - up to 450/750V - for power and lighting with low emission of smoke and corrosive gases when affected by fire, manufactured in accordance with British Standard BS7211
This Standard covers a number of British power and lighting cables with low emission of smoke and corrosive gas properties which were not harmonised into the BS EN 50525 series of standards.
We provide a wide range of fixed wiring cables with Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH) insulation manufactured in accordance with BS7211, including 6242B twin & earth (T&E), 6181B and 6381B (manufactured generally to BS7211).
This Standard specifies the requirements and test methods for the construction of cables with a thermosetting insulation rated up to 450/750V, that emit limited amounts of smoke and corrosive gases compared to corresponding Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) cables in the event of a fire. For more information on the testing methods required to confirm cable compliance, please refer to our testing services or speak to the technical experts in The Cable Lab.
