Twin & Earth cable (also known as T&E) is a flexible flat sheathed mains electricity wiring cable used in a wide range of domestic and commercial electrical applications with a voltage rating of 300/500V. These cables are BASEC-approved and CPR compliant.

The 624Y and 624B T&E cables can be installed in fixed wiring installations in dry or damp premises clipped to surface, on trays or in free air where there is no risk of mechanical damage. They are suitable for laying in conduit or trunking where mechanical protection is required.

Twin and Earth cable is a general fixed wiring and lighting cable, containing three conductors. As the name suggests, there is a pair or Twin current carrying conductors, both individually insulated, and one bare conductor which is the central protective circuit (CPC) or Earth.

We supply Twin & Earth cable with PVC outer sheathing (6241Y, 6242Y, 6423Y and 6244Y) and LSZH sheathing (6241B, 6242B, 6243B, 6244B) - the last of the four digits in the designation relating to the number of cores in the cable.

Twin & Earth cables are available in sizes ranging from 1mm² up to 16mm². These cables are used for lighting, small power distribution, and general-purpose circuits. Within the UK the following sizes are typically used in the following applications:

1.0mm²&1.5mm² – typically used for residential lighting and switching
2.5mm² – typically used for residential mains sockets
6mm² – typically used for residential cookers
10mm² – typically for residential cookers and electric showers
16mm² – typically for large electric showers

T&E cables are also used in commercial settings such as offices, retail spaces and light-duty installations.
