XHIAE, XHI1AE, LXHIAE and LXHI1AE Cables

Extending the range of Portuguese referenced Medium Voltage range are the XHIAE, XHI1AE, LXHIAE and LXHI1AE Cables, manufactured in accordance with IEC 60502-2 and HD 620.

XHIAE, XHI1AE, LXHIAE, LXHI1AE Cable Voltages and Sizes

With the XHIAE and XHI1AE cables having Copper conductors, and LXHIAE and LXHI1AE cables being Aluminium conductors, they are available in voltages of 3.6/6kV, 6/10kV, 8.7/15kV, 12/20kV and 18/30kV. Cable core sizes, with conductors provided in mm2, are broadly consistent across the voltages, but small differences do occur.

XHIAE, XHI1AE, LXHIAE, LXHI1AE Cable Specification

These MV cables have a robust Polyethylene (PE) sheathing covering a layer of armour. The PE sheathing is particularly suited to external installations including sitting in cable ducts subject to occasional waterlogging. Where ducts are permanently waterlogged, additional waterblocking measures may be required as part of the construction - speak to our team where this may be a factor.

The XHIAE and LXHIAE have STA Steel Tape armour being multicore cables, whilst the XHI1AE and LXHI1AE have ATA Aluminium Tape as they are single cores. This metallic armour is wound in a double layer, providing good mechanical protection. Tape armour is an alternative to SWA/AWA wire armoured cables such as the XHIRV and BS6622 cables.

These MV cables have a copper tape screening to minimise interference with proximate cables and electrical equipment, over the XLPE insulation which allows a maximum operating temperature of +90^oC.

These XHIAE, XHI1AE, LXHIAE and LXHI1AE cables are subject to intensive testing in our specialist MV cable facility to ensure quality and compliance; and are stored, wrapped and packaged so as to reach the customer site in optimum condition.
