Type 275 Flexible Rubber Mining Cables

The Type 275 cable is a flexible low voltage cable in common use in the underground coal mining industry. Amongst it's many industrial applications it is used for supplying shuttle cars and as a pump power cable.

Type 275 Cable Voltage Rating

Available as a 1.1kV cable, it is sometimes referenced as Type 275.1 - the .1 denoting the voltage rating amongst this particular range of cables. It is configured as a 3+3+1 where 3 power cores and 3 earth cores are cradled with a single pilot core providing central reinforcement. It is available in a range of conductor cross-sectional area sizes, with the power cores ranging from 16mm2 to 50mm2.

Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) insulation offers good dielectric strength and resistance to water-treeing, whilst the extra-heavy duty Chlorosulphonated Polyethylene (HD-CSP) provides ozone resistance, very low water absorption, and is resistant to abrasions, impact and crushing whilst still providing the flexibility required - all beneficial in the harsh and demanding environments found in mining operations. For added mechanical protection without restricting flexibility, a layer of polyamide yarns is also applied beneath the outer sheathing.

Like other cables in the range, including the Type 209 and Type 210, and Type 260 cables, the Type 275 is manufactured in accordance with Australia / New Zealand Standards AS/NZS 1802:2003 and AS/NZS 1125:2001, and are oil resistant, flame retardant and UV protected.
