EAY2Y Cable Specification
With their aluminium conductors, these low voltage cables are often used to connect computer technologies to networks and transmit data signals to underground network systems. The E-AY2Y is designed for fixed installation underground, in buildings, cable ducts, in open air or in water, as permitted by the local building regulations. They are suitable for use in applications under mechanical stress, where protection is required against mechanical damage, particularly during installation and or operation, as well as from environmental elements - most often this is within the renewable energy industry. The E-AY2Y 0.6/1kV cable has a maximum operating temperature of 70°C and minimum laying temperature of -5°C.
Provided with either a Class 1 solid or Class 2 stranded Aluminium conductors, circular or sectorial shaped, the EAY2Y is lightweight making for easier handling. The PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) insulation is covered by a High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) outer sheath, providing a balance between abrasion resistance, durability and flexibility. HDPE has improved resistance to stress cracking, making it ideal for moist environments due to its high resistance against water migration. The cable sheath is also UV resistant (ultraviolet) light to prevent degradation, making it ideal for use in large industrial plants, like those in the chemical industry, which typically operate outdoors.

The technical datasheet confirms nominal cable sizes, weights and accompanying electrical characteristics. The E-AY2Y cable is manufactured in accordance with standard HD 603 S2 for core identification. The cable is also CPR compliant, for fixed installation inside civil buildings.
