Eland Cables' portfolio of European standard low voltage power cables includes the armoured NYFGbY cable. This 0.6/1kV cable, manufactured in accordance with IEC 60502-1 and DIN VDE 0276-603, offers protection to the conductors by way of galvanised steel flat wires and galvanised steel tape. The combination of steel wires and tape allow for applications subject to higher tensile stresses during installation or operation. They also provide an effective barrier to rodent attack.
With its steel wire armour the NYFGbY cable is suitable for direct burial - the flat wires (as compared to standard SWA round wires) create a marginally smaller overall cable diameter so may be considered where space constraints exist. The flame retardant, UV resistant, black PVC outer sheath means it is also suitable for external installations including in sealed ducts. The NYFGbY cable has a maximum operating temperature of 90oC and is available with coloured cores in accordance with DIN VDE 0292.

EUROPEAN ARMOURED POWER CABLE SPECIFICATION
Cables such as the N2XRY and N2XRH bear close similarity to the British Standard AWA and SWA cables BS5467 and BS6724, with round wire armour. European low voltage power cables also employ flat wires, steel tapes and other armouring methods and depending on the precise installation environment and the regulatory requirements of the country of installation, these may be more appropriate.
