Commonly used in the mining industry as tough flexible rubber power connections, the (N)SSHÖU cable are heavy-duty drilling and tunnelling equipment cables with a flame retardant, UV resistant outer sheath designed to withstand abrasions, cuts, tears and oils & greases. They can be used as power supply where high levels of mechanical stress and abrasion are expected.
Eland Cables' mining cable portfolio includes (N)SSHÖU O/J, (N)SSHÖU 3E, and (N)SSHÖU 3E+ST cable, all with a voltage rating of 600/1000V.
(N)SSHÖU cable can be submerged in water, including salt water, oily and sewage-contaminated water , up to a depth of 100m. They can be used in dry, damp, wet and hazardous envionrments.

This range has a temperature rating of -25oC to +80oC when flexed and -40oC to +80oC when used in a fixed installation. Like many other mining power cables, the (N)SHÖU, (N)SSHÖU and (N)SSCHÖU cables are manufactured generally to German standard VDE0250 part 812.
