2024 Sustainability Report Released

Our latest Sustainability Report has been released, covering the period 1st January 2024 to 31st December 2024. It states our Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions as they relate to our mandatory SECR reporting and our Science Based Targets (SBTi), and uses the framework of the United Nations Global Compact Sustainable Development Goals (UN GC SDGs) to help frame our wider ESG actions.
The results are positive, showing a substantial reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions - with market-based Scope 2 reaching Zero through our use of onsite electricity generation from solar and the use of renewable grid tariffs.
As a company, we've worked hard to embed sustainable operations practices within our business, and 2024 saw the benefits of actions implemented in recent years. These actions are set against a landscape of business growth, with the company's turnover rising from £210M in 2023 to £273M in 2024. Reporting a reduction of over 30% in absolute terms is a sizable win, which is further underlined when considered on an intensity basis against both turnover and employee headcount.
Alongside this work on the Environment element of ESG, we've continued to prioritise our employees, as a Living Wage Plus employer and by providing private healthcare and wellbeing benefits for all staff. We've also remained active in our communities, particularly supporting initiatives that support education, work to raise people out of poverty and help the disadvantaged.
We remain committed to the ESG landscape, including reducing our operational carbon emissions and the embodied carbon in our cables as we work towards a Net Zero future.
