Fire Safety - NHXH & NHXCH - FE180 Cable

Eland Cables supplies a range of fire safety power cables with a 0.6/1kV voltage rating manufactured according to the NHXH and NHXCH European designation.

NHXH and NHXCH Cable Specification

The NHXH and NHXCH cables are for circuit integrity, designed to continue operating for set lengths of time in the event of a fire. They are used for voice alarms, smoke alarms, and support for fire fighting and life saving efforts.

These cables have flame retardant and non-corrosive (FRNC) properties which make them ideally suited for installation in public buildings and for applications requiring a high degree of resistance to flame and offering low emissions of toxic fumes in order to protect both human life and equipment in the event of a fire. They are manufactured to European Standard EN 60332-3-24 - the European standard which replaced the standard EN 50266-2-4 (withdrawn).

These FRNC power cables are suitable for indoor and outdoor applications, however they are not suitable for direct burial installation or directly into water. Any outdoor installations for these European flame retardant and non-corrosive cables should therefore provide measures to prevent water penetration.

NHXCH cables differ from their equivalent NHXH cables as their construction includes a concentric copper conductor of copper tape and copper wires, where the wires act as the metallic component of the shield and the neutral at the same time.
