6181Y “Meter tails” or “Smart meter” are flexible general surface wiring low voltage (LV) single-core PVC cables with a copper conductor offering light protection against mechanical damage. These cables are manufactured in accordance with British Standard BS6004 and are BASEC-approved.

They are also known as “double insulated” cables; however they are more accurately insulated and sheathed cables.

6181Y cables have a voltage rating of 300/500V and are suitable for fixed installation, in dry or damp areas, for both domestic building and light industrial wiring. They are also used in connection to (smart) meters.

They should be installed in an area with low risk of mechanical damage, in a tray, clipped onto a surface, or suspended in free air.

These cables have an operating temperature ranging between -15^oC and +70^oC.
