BS EN 50288-7 - RE-2X(st)H Cables
RE-2X(st)H cables are low smoke zero halogen instrumentation cables for use in environments with electromagnetic interference. Manufactured in accordance with BS EN 50288, these cables are widely used in the petrochemical industry in instrumentation and control applications with a 300/500V voltage rating for analogue and digital signal transmission.
These cables' LSZH properties make them suitable for use in environments where smoke and toxic fumes would post a risk to human life and sensitive equipment in the event of a fire.
RE-2X(st)H cable construction
Solid copper (Class 1)
Stranded copper (Class 2)
Flexible copper (Class 5)
|Insulation||Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH)|
|Individual and collective screen (ICAM) or collective screen (CAM)||
Polyester tape (PET)
Aluminium / polyester tape (Al/PET)
|Armour||-||Galvanised steel wire armour (GSWA)|
|Outer sheath||Low smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH)|
RE-2X(st)H cables are available as collectively screened multi-core, collectively screened multi-pair, collectively and individually screened pairs in metal foil (PiMF), and collectively and individually screened triple in metal foil (TiMF).
For additional fire protection, RE-2X(st)H cables can have a layer of mica glass tape added to the insulating layer. These cables are designated RE-T2X(st)H and RE-T2X(st)H SWAH.
This range of cables is available with a blue or black outer sheath colour. The blue denotes an ex-proof (intrinsically safe) connection in explosive and in flammable environments. Black sheathed RE-2X(st)H are resistant to ultraviolet (UV) light.
The wider range of BS EN 50288 cables also include the silicone insulated LSZH sheathed range RE-2G(st)H cables and the polyethylene insulated and PVC sheathed RE-2Y(st)Y cables.
