Our high voltage 2XS(FL)2Y and A2XS(FL)2Y single core cables provide utilities providers and industrial networks alike with a robust solution for power distribution in buried networks. Manufactured in accordance with IEC 60840 standard, these cables can notably be found specified in the mining and oil, gas industries.

2XS(FL)2Y / A2XS(FL)2Y Cable Voltages

These HV cables gradually step up through the voltage range: 26/45kV (Um 52kV), 36/60kV (Um 72.5kV), 64/110kV (Um 123kV), and 76/132kV (Um 145kV). The Technical Datasheets for each voltage and each cable type are listed and attached below.

2XS(FL)2Y / A2XS(FL)2Y Cable Manufacturer Specification

Whilst specification will depend on installation design, available space, and other site-specific considerations, the Copper 2XS(FL)2Y cable and Aluminium A2XS(FL)2Y cable both have Class 2 stranded conductors, insulated with XLPE. The XLPE provides for a maximum conductor operating temperature of +90^oC and aids operation at both high and low temperatures. 

Designed for buried in-ground installations in cable ducts, these HV cables are provided with dual waterblocking properties either side of the metallic screen, to help minimise and mitigate any water ingress. Longitudinal swellable tapes are there to prevent the capillary action at any joint or termination, whilst additional waterblocking from a copolymer laminate bonded to the outer sheath in effect 'self-heals' microscopic damage from perforations at sheath level.

A High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is used as standard for the outer sheath, offering the best compromise between abrasion resistance and flexibility, but MDPE (Medium Density - listed below) sheathing options are also available. HDPE and MDPE are both well-suited to these buried networks, where their material properties provide protection should they be laid in the ground against sharp stones which might otherwise damage this outer layer over time and ultimately compromise the cable performance. Similarly, the material properties stand out in higher ambient temperatures where alternate sheathing options such as PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) may otherwise soften. 

Where the installation includes internal runs and terminations, a Low Smoke Zero Halogen sheathing is also available under the cable name 2XS(FL)H / A2XS(FL)H.
